Gus Dean Ready to Play in the Mud – One More Time in 2024

ULMER, S.C.: Veteran Motorsports driver Gus Dean is ready to get down and dirty one more time this year, as he is expected to participate in Saturday’s “Trucks Gone Wild” at Twitty’s Mud Bog in Ulmer, S.C.

Dean, the three-time ARCA Menards Series winner, will showcase his newly crafted massive Mud Truck nicknamed “Vengeance” as the Bluffton, S.C. native looks to deliver another podium effort to close out a competitive and winning 2024 Motorsports season.

“Twitty’s Trucks Gone Wild is such a thrilling event to be a part of, and it continues to get bigger and bigger every year,” said Dean with a smile.

Expecting a packed house on Saturday afternoon, Dean said his Dean Racing team relishes the compliments of his “Vengeance” vehicles and utilizes the event to compete and continue to educate.

Dean also hopes his effort this weekend leads to the opportunity to set a new personal best-eclipsed lap around the unique course. The popular driver added the Mud Truck to his Motorsports platform less than three years ago.

“Even when I’m turning circles with Late Models, ARCA, or even in the Xfinity garage this year, I always tell everyone about our Mud Truck because people are intrigued,” he explained. “It is something everyone has to experience at least once. The synergy these events create reminds me a lot of a NASCAR weekend.

“Lots of people, plenty of cheering, excellent competition, and most of all cool looking race vehicles. I am fortunate enough to have my own cheering section, whether competing on Daytona International Speedway’s high banks or getting dirty in the mud – it’s just a blast.”

While building a name in the trenches of the Mud Truck world, the South Carolinian says the outpouring of support from team members, fans and family alike is motivation on any given weekend.

“I have a lot of people to thank, and I believe it’s something I never take for granted, and I continue to appreciate all the support, especially when racing locally,” sounded Dean. “This weekend is another opportunity to keep digging and continue getting faster and see if we can’t end the year with another trophy.”

Saturday’s “Trucks Gone Wild” event will conclude Dean’s 2024 Motorsports schedule.

This season, he participated in Late Models and the ARCA Menards Series, made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut, and contributed to more Mud Truck competitions.

Dean experienced success throughout the season, including an emotional week in February, during which he started off the 2024 season with an impressive Late Model win at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway finally overcame his Daytona International Speedway miseries and collected Venturini Motorsports’ 100th career victory in the season-opening ARCA race at Daytona.

He dedicated both wins to his late grandfather, Charles Dean Sr., who passed away in January.

No matter what happens this weekend, Dean is thankful to continue a racing career and will soon be ready for 2025.

“It’s been a busy year, especially celebrating my second year being married to my wife and best friend, but we’ve had a very competitive racing season too,” Dean added. “Getting those wins for Granddaddy meant everything for me.

“We showed a lot of speed and continued to earn success in the Mud Truck too. It’s all part of the journey. It was a tough year, but I certainly made the best of it, and I know Grandaddy is always with us.”

Dean will announce his racing plans for the 2025 season in due course.
