Teenager Wyatt Twitty to Drive Gus Dean’s Vengeance at Mud Racing National Championships

BLUFFTON, S.C. — In a unanimous decision, veteran race car driver Gus Dean and Mud Truck teammate Duke Bohanon announced today that teenager Wyatt Twitty will take the reins of Dean Racing’s Vengeance Mud Truck for the upcoming Mud Racing National Championships at Wild Country Off Road the weekend of October 31, 2025.

Twitty, a second-generation racer, will take the wheel of one of the sport’s most popular trucks as Dean fulfills a previously scheduled commitment — opening the door for the young driver to showcase his ability in one of the most highly anticipated races of the year.

“This is a huge opportunity, and I can’t thank Gus and Duke enough for trusting me with Vengeance,” said Twitty, a native of Barnwell, S.C.

“Vengeance has quickly become one of the most talked-about trucks in the sport, and to get the chance to drive it at a national event means a lot. I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got.”

Dean, a proven veteran across both asphalt and off-road disciplines, said the decision to put Twitty in the seat was an easy one.

“Wyatt’s shown a lot of maturity and natural talent for someone his age,” said Dean. “He’s been around the sport his whole life, he understands the equipment, and he’s earned this shot. I’m confident he’ll do a great job representing Dean Racing and take care of the truck for me.”

Bohanon echoed those sentiments, adding that Twitty’s dedication and drive made him the perfect fit to carry the torch for Vengeance during the championship weekend.

“Gus and I both see a lot of potential in Wyatt,” Bohanon added. “He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty, he listens, he learns fast, and he respects the sport. This is a chance for him to make a statement, and we’re all excited to see what he can do.”

The Mud Racing National Championships at Wild Country Off Road in Leakesville, Mississippi, are expected to draw some of the biggest names and machines in the sport, with fans from across the region set to converge for the Halloween weekend showdown.

Twitty, 19, is the son of legendary Mud Racer Russell Twitty and is a second-year student at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), majoring in agricultural technology systems management.

Now stepping into the spotlight, Twitty is eager to make an impression on one of the sport’s biggest stages — proudly carrying the Twitty family name while striving to make his father, along with the Dean and Bohanon families, proud.

“Getting the chance to drive Vengeance on such a big stage means a lot to me,” said Twitty. “My dad’s been my biggest inspiration, and to be able to carry our family name while representing Gus and Duke’s team is an incredible honor.

“I know the Twitty name carries a lot of meaning in Mud Racing, and I want to make my dad proud while showing Gus, Duke, and everyone who’s helped me along the way that their belief in me was worth it.

“This is a huge opportunity, and I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got.”

Over the past few years, Mud Truck Racing has seen a surge in popularity, attracting fans and competitors from across the country.

A household name in stock car competition, Dean is quickly becoming a fan favorite in the Mud Truck world as well.

Through his growing involvement, Dean has also brought his years of stock car safety experience to the forefront of Mud Truck competition — encouraging teams and drivers to prioritize safety both on and off the course.

His emphasis on proper equipment, preparation and driver awareness has quickly made an impact among competitors and fans alike, further establishing him as a respected ambassador for the sport’s future.

Dean Racing’s Vengeance Mud Truck has been a fan favorite on the circuit, renowned for its distinctive appearance, raw power, and consistent performance. Twitty’s appearance behind the wheel marks the second time another driver — joining Bohanon — has piloted the truck in national-level competition.

Dean, a native of Bluffton, South Carolina, is expected to return to Mud Truck competition with Vengeance for Twitty’s Trucks Gone Wild annual fall event in Ulmer, South Carolina, from November 21–22, 2025.

Dean will announce his racing plans for the 2026 season in due course.
